FERDINAND PLEASED WITH TROPHY HAUL

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has said that he is looking forward to retiring on a high after having achieved a lot for both England and the Manchester United over the years.

The 33-year-old is coming to the end of his career; with many thinking that, the former West Ham defender has only a couple of years at the top level left in him.

Even though he has been able to prove his doubters wrong up until now, Ferdinand has accepted that there may come a time when he may have to retire, but hopes to do so on a high.

Ferdinand has spent 10 years at Manchester United after moving to Old Trafford in 2002 for a British transfer record fee of £ 30 million. Even though he had his troubles during the early years at Manchester United, he has been a force to reckon with over the last five years. He has won all major trophies with Manchester United apart from the FA Cup.

In total, he has won eight titles with Manchester United including a Champions League title back in 2008. Has played almost 400 games for United, Ferdinand hopes that he has the chance to retire having won the league title, although he acknowledges that this may not be his last season.

"You think to yourself this could be your last one, or two. This could be my last one. I want to win something. I want to go out on a high note. I don't think it would be good to finish your career on a loss. Losses now do my head in, thinking you might not be able to rectify it the season after because you retire or leave," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

United are looking to win their record 20th Premier league title this season, and are probably worth a premier league bet!
