Bosnich says the Red Devils can’t afford to lose to Chelsea

Speaking to The Mirror, Bosnich does not believe United are in a must-win situation at the moment and they can afford a stalemate against the Blues on the road. However, the former Australian star added that United must not succumb to a defeat as it would drop them nine points behind the Blues and probably end their top-four pursuit.
He told: “I don’t think it’s win or bust but you could lean towards it being lose or bust. I think it’s a must not lose. The gap will be a little bit far to catch up if they lose, but not win or bust no. They’re not far off and Chelsea will be looking to this with Tottenham breathing down their necks and they’re at home. They both had a week’s break so it will be a very important game for both sides.”
United have been hampered by key injuries in the midfield and forward department and they are likely to be without Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford for the forthcoming game at Stamford Bridge. However, they have received a boost with Scott McTominay returning to training after a knee ligament injury, and the Scot should add more steel to the club’s midfield.
United have had a mixed set of results with Chelsea over the years due to the poor record on the road. However, their head-to-head statistic has been dominant under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with three wins and one draw from the past four meetings. Two of those victories have come at Stamford Bridge in the Cup competitions.
