LIVERPOOL PRE-SEASON WOES CONTINUE AGAINST SALZBURG

Liverpool have been very poor in pre-season football this summer going by their high standards. The reigning Champions League finalists have already lost one game in pre-season and they were beaten again to make it two pre-season defeats following the 1-0 loss to hosts Red Bulls Salzburg of Austria.

In pre-season football this summer, Liverpool have now won two and lost two from four games after the narrow defeat at the hands of the Austrian champions. Young Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko proved to be the recipient of the winning goal just after the half-hour mark. He had missed a decent opportunity to give his team the lead before he made amends some minutes later with his goal comingone minute on the side of the half-hour mark.

Liverpool manager JurgenKlopp made several changes to his usual suspect, but they could not avoid losing the only goal of the game in the first half. A lot of young players started the game against Red Bulls Arena in Salzburg. The senior players were introduced in the second half, but they could not change the scoreline.
Klopp and Liverpool began their pre-season schedule with a big defeat to arch rivals Manchester United. They were beaten 4-0 by the Red Devils with the likes of Fred, Jadon Sancho, FacundoPellestri and Anthony Martial on target for Erik Ten Hag’s men. They won a pre-season game this summer for the first time with the 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in an all-Premier League affair with Club skipper Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah getting the goals for Liverpool. New signing Darwin Nunez gave a good impression when he scored four goals during the 5-0 win over RB Leipzig. However, the Uruguayan international was able to save prevent the Salzburg defeat. Liverpool paid around €100m for Nunez including add-ons.
The Salzburg game ended the pre-season schedule for Liverpool this summer. All focus will now shift to the Community Shield this weekend with Premier League holders Manchester City waiting in the wings.
