MAN UNITED PLAYERS REPORTEDLY HAVE DOUBTS OVER TEN HAG

After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November, Ralf Rangnick leading the team on an interim basis did not steady the ship. Instead, reports circulated that players struggled to buy into the tactics and vision of the German manager. Poor performances and inevitably missing out on Champions League football next season only justifies why a major rebuild is required at Old Trafford. Therefore, the appointment of a manager with a reputation for significant rebuilds and the ability to reshape a team should fill the squad with confidence.

But The Times has revealed that not every player is entirely confident in Ten Hag. The report claims players are impressed by the Dutchman’s credentials but fear that he may not have a ‘strong enough personality’ to get the club out of its current crisis. Ten Hag was selected over the likes of Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino and Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui due to his work at Ajax. On two occasions the 52-year-old managed to build teams that were capable of competing in Europe whilst also dominating the Eredivisie.

Ten Hag is set to be busy in the summer transfer window in order to rejig the Red Devils squadg – and with that, a mass clearout is anticipated. The likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are amongst those who are out of contract at the end of the season, whilst Marcus Rashford and several other stars have been linked with exits from the Theatre of Dreams.

United are expected to be in the market for a striker once the campaign draws to a close, with Cristiano Ronaldo the only out and out no.9 at Ten Hag’s disposal upon his arrival. Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane has been named as one of the club’s top targets, whilst Darwin Nunez of Benfica has also been linked with a move to the sixth-placed side.
